Need some ideas for your family during Advent? These Christian Advent Calendars for Kids will help you teach your children about the incarnation of Christ!
The word Advent means arrival. Not just any old arrival, but the arrival of someone really important. During the Christian celebration of Advent, we remember the arrival of the King of the Universe, Jesus the Christ.
The Jewish people waited a long time for the promised Messiah. The prophets told of us of God’s great plan for salvation long ago. When Jesus was born, those he called knew him to be God-made-man, the Son of God, the long-awaited Christ.
When we celebrate Advent today, we remember the incarnation of Christ, and we await his second coming, when he will finally judge the earth and bring peace and harmony for all who love him and are called according to his promise. That’s a pretty amazing celebration!
This Christmas Advent season, help your family focus on both the birth of Jesus, the Son of God, and on his coming again. Help your kids understand God’s great plan for them. These Christian Advent calendars for kids are great tools to get your whole family focused in the right direction!

I have never done an advent calendar. Growing up we had an advent wreath with devotions every night, but since I have been married, we have only done it once (it wasn’t something my husband grew up doing). My neighbor has an advent calendar for each of her children, but I have never asked her about what exactly it is.

Yes, we need to be thankful. My daughter has been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia due to emotional origins, so she is in talk therapy to deal with this. We all are trying to come to grips with what this year has been, my husband losing all of his work due to covid, me struggling to exist on my 30% lung capacity and avoid covid at all costs, and my daughter now struggling with Fibro. In July I started her on a Thankful journal, writing down 5 things at the end of the day that she is grateful for. She has done it every day and has quite the list! I can never get enough of being Thankful,…the Lord has given us so much to enjoy, the freedoms in this country,..my husband reminds us every day!
Thank you for your reminders too. I will be reading this as a devotional one evening this week!

The advent season is so precious to us as a family. I grew up with a very commercialised Christmas experience as a non-Christian, and only started doing a Christian advent theme when my oldest was about 6. I made my own Jesse tree then, and a few years later found a wooden boxed advent calendar like the ones you have advertised here, on a post Christmas sale. It had been damaged but we fixed it, and every year we put a names of Jesus verse in each door, along with a chocolate ball. Praying that my now-teens x 3 will hold these memories precious and reenact them with their own families one day. Thanks for sharing!
