Our kids need a broad view of Scripture. The reason I’m so passionate about reading through the Bible as a family is because our children need to know the grand story of God’s Word. They need to know about salvation in Jesus Christ.
It also benefits our kids to take a deeper look at the teachings of the Bible that relate to Scripture’s main themes.
Spending time teaching our kids about the fruit of the Spirit is a great way to help them learn to follow Jesus as believers. Really, don’t we all want to see our kids display godly character? Even before they are saved, we can teach our children what it means to be a disciple of Jesus.
Christian Focus Publications provided a copy of Growing God’s Gifts in return for my honest opinion, and a copy to give away.
Fruit of the Spirit Book
The fruit of the Spirit are a gift from the Holy Spirit once we are saved in Jesus. Lucy Joy, a Scottish mom of two, has written and illustrated a fun children’s book about the fruit of the Spirit.
At 96 pages, Growing God’s Gifts: The Fruit of the Spirit (Christian Focus Publications, 2020) is a fun look at the fruit of the Spirit for ages 4-10. Because the book is so big, with fun illustrations, your kids will enjoy exploring it for quite some time without feeling like they’ve outgrown it.
The book introduces the fruit of the Spirit as a present from God that shows us how Jesus wants his family to behave. Lucy Joy goes through each fruit, giving examples of what that fruit looks like in the life of a believer.
At the end of the book, there is an explanation of the gospel, followed by encouragement for your child to pray and ask God for help when he or she is struggling to display the fruit of the Spirit.
Growing God’s Gifts is a fun book your kids will enjoy!
