I looked at the bar and tried to see it from her perspective. It wasn’t your standard toddler fare. Rather, it was composed of shredded carrots, mashed dates, crisped rice, and other healthy things. It was actually really tasty. I glanced over at her preschooler’s fist of goldfish crackers and smiled.
“Oh… well, there’s nothing wrong with crackers, and this is sort of a yoga-mom bar.” We laughed. “But, he only eats about 300 calories a day. I figure every calorie matters and I want to make sure they’re good ones.”
My friend broke eye contact with me to race across the room and pull her child down from his perch over the play structure, seven feet off the ground.
I didn’t think much about our conversation, but years later my friend told me it made her more conscious of her snack choices for her kids. It’s not that my children never ate goldfish crackers or the occasional cookie, but I provided tasty, healthy nutrition for them because I wanted to fuel their little bodies well.
Christian Cartoons
I feel the same way about the media our family consumes. Our kids only watch screens for a given period of time, and I want the entertainment they’re consuming to fuel their minds and spirits well.
You feel the same way, right?
Even if, and this is a big if, a child’s programming is entirely neutral in worldview, the time our kids are spending watching that program could be spent watching something that will help them learn about God, the story of the Bible, Christian living, and the world God created. That’s what we want for our kids.
When our older two kids were young, we had VHS tapes of Bibleman, McGee and Me, VeggieTales, and 3 2 1 Penguins they could watch after school. With our younger two kids, we invested in the whole Buck Denver Asks… What’s in the Bible series. The kids loved Hermie and Friends and The Pond as well. I’ll be honest, when the kids were little, those VHS videos and DVDs were sometimes the only way I got dinner made. I had a half hour of blissful silence in which to chop veggies, and the kids were learning about Jesus.
Today, there’s a whole new way to view Christian cartoons and Christian movies for kids.

An Alternative to Netflix or Disney Plus
Let’s be totally honest, shall we?
Netflix and Disney Plus are far from worldview neutral. In fact, Netflix has made the news a number of times over past several years for pushing the moral envelope. This recently led to a mass exodus of Christians from the platform. Disney is also known for pushing the moral envelope with their programming, albeit at a slower rate.
Thankfully, there’s an answer to the Christian parent’s streaming video dilemma.
Your child can access over 2,000 Christian cartoons in a safe environment with no ads or commercials. Not only will you find old favorites like the VHS videos we showed our older kids, you’ll find great new options as well.

I’m a mom to 10 and although we use filters with most movies, it’s really hard to find GOOD programming for kids. I’m tired of constantly telling my kids no to things they can’t watch. This seems like it would allow me to say “pick anything, yes really anything!” Great idea… I may not wait for the giveaway and just get it tonight:)
Danika says
Good plan!
