You’ll love this Christian Easter wreath craft for kids. With a short lesson on Jesus’ sacrifice, it’s the perfect celebration of Easter.
The Resurrection of Jesus Christ is central to the Christian faith. As believers, we want our kids to know and understand the Gospel of Jesus.
Easter is a great time to set aside time every year to consider the sacrifice Jesus made on our behalf.
You can make a Christian Easter wreath craft with your kids and do a short Bible lesson on Philippians 2:3-11 all in one quick project! And, it will give you something fun to display each year!
Remember God’s Love for Christians at Easter
Before you make your Resurrection wreath, read Philippians 2:3-11 together:
Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 2:3-11, ESV
Read the passage above with your children and discuss:
- How are we to imitate Jesus in the way we think and act? (We are to humbly consider others more important than ourselves, and look to their interests.)
- Who is Jesus? (Jesus is the second person of the One, True God.)
- What did Jesus do for us? (He became fully human and fully man. He died on the cross to save those who believe in him from their sins (Romans 10:9).)
- Why was this obedience to the Father humbling to Jesus? (Jesus, the Son of God and God the Son, became human and died a public and devastating death.) (The Father is the first person of the One, True God. The Holy Spirit is the third.)
- What does Scripture tell us about Jesus after the Crucifixion? (He rose from the dead. God the Father exalted Jesus. Jesus’ name is above all names and every knee will bow to him and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord!)
- Who does the Resurrection of Jesus glorify? (God the Father!)
The Resurrection of Jesus causes Christians to celebrate. It is a joyous event. Jesus’ Crucifixion and Resurrection should also cause us to be humble in the way we think of and treat others. After all, our Lord and Savior humbled himself for us!
As you make this wreath, talk as a family about all God has done for you!

Tips for Art Projects with Kids
Doing art projects with kids can be a challenge. For that reason, many parents forgo this valuable time altogether. As an art major and a parent who has done frequent art projects with my four children, I have a few suggestions for you.
- Cover your space. Use painting drop cloths and plastic to keep your furniture and flooring protected.
- Cover your kids. Grab a couple of your old T-shirts and throw them over your kids, buy them painting aprons, or designate clothes specifically for crafting.
- Do the prep work in advance. Do as much prep work for a project as you can before you get the kids involved. Not everything on the page needs to be their work. It’s OK to help.
- Schedule several short sessions for one project. Children need several days to be able to create larger projects. Art is time-consuming and requires energy.
- Encourage your kids. Children are likely to be frustrated by the disconnect in the artwork they envision and the art they actually create. Remind your kids that they improve every time they create, and tell them how much you love their work (even if you don’t know what it is!). Also, stick figures are fabulous.
- Operate the hot glue gun. Hot glue burns are terrible. Until your kids are old enough to cook, I’d advise you do the hot gluing.

Christian Easter Wreath Craft for Kids
Here are the steps for the Easter wreath craft for your kids. Your children can help with most of these steps, and you can step in and help whenever necessary.
Grab your craft instructions and template in the Thinking Kids Press store.
1) Make a Christian Easter Wreath.
Cut long strips of burlap fabric, then wrap your Easter wreath base to cover it. Glue the beginning of each burlap strip to the cardstock ring, then glue the end of each strip before gluing a new strip to your Easter wreath.
2) Cut Out Your Easter Wreath Craft Templates.
Print the Easter wreath craft template for your kids.
Cut out the template pieces. Trace the sun and empty tomb template pieces on colored cardstock.
Easter wreath scene:
The scene on your wreath is simple:
- The Empty Tomb
- The Sun
- Three Crosses (made from twigs)
3) Make the Empty Tomb for your Christian Easter Wreath.
Remind your kids that the giant, heavy stone was in front of the entrance to the tomb, sealed the stone to the tomb, and set a guard outside the tomb. The Romans thought that would help stop Jesus’ followers from stealing his body (Matthew 27:62-66).
But, no one stole Jesus’ body because he rose from the dead! How was the stone rolled away? By an angel! (Matthew 28:2)
4) Create the Wooden Crosses for Your Christian Easter Wreath.
You can find the story of the two robbers who were crucified beside Jesus in Luke 23:32-49.
5) Finish Your Christian Easter Wreath Craft with Your Kids.
To finish your Easter wreath, glue your tomb to the bottom center of your wreath. Glue the sun to the top center of the wreath.
Make a small loop with your burlap ribbon and glue it on the top of the backside of the Easter wreath craft. Once the glue dries, use your loop to hang the wreath.
