Bible Road Trip™

Bible Road Trip™ is a three year Bible survey curriculum for preschool to high school. In addition to a five-level curriculum, there are three levels of notebooking journals for grades 1-9 (high school students keep their own journals and have a special project). Bible Road Trip™ will prepare your children for a lifetime of Bible Study. Students will journey through the Bible book by book, studying background history, major themes, key verses, and each book’s role in the overall revelation of God’s story.

Cobblestone Path™ ~ Christian History and Theology

Cobblestone Path™ resources cover Christian history and theology. Cobblestone Path™ Church History Research Journals are a research notebooking project for middle and high school students. This series of eight journals is your student’s opportunity to really dig into the history of the Christian Church. Think of it as personal scrapbooks of his or her journey through Christian history. Why the name “Cobblestone Path”? The road through the history of our Christian family is a comprised of the lives of many different saints – and a few scoundrels. It’s a road both rocky and smooth.

Exploring Church history with the structure of these Cobblestone Path journals will allow students from the 5th to 12th grades to develop research, note-taking, and critical thinking skills. Students will learn about the twists and turns of the Church’s journey, from great heroes to great heresy.

Ecclesiastes 1:9 (ESV) tells us: “What has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun.” Our upcoming generation of young people needs to understand what has been and what’s been done, so they will recognize the old errors and false ideas as they arise. It’s vital that they understand the history of their family.

Thinking Kids Press Literature Resources

October 31st, 2015 marks the 498th anniversary of Martin Luther’s bold stand for the gospel–the day he nailed the Ninety-Five Theses to the door of Wittenberg’s Castle Church in Germany. This event in Christian history changed the course of the Christian Church, Germany, Europe, and–ultimately–the history of the world.

Thinking Kids Press is dedicated to helping families explore Scripture, theology, and the history of the church. To help your family study all three, I’m offering two new Martin Luther resources that I’m really excited about–and they’re free to you!

The free printable 12-week Martin Luther unit study is written especially for middle and high school students. The unit study will help students really understand the life and times of Martin Luther, who is often called the Father of the Reformation. The unit study guide is 245 pages, full-color with historical artwork, and is free for Thinking Kids subscribers to download. Based on my narrative youth biography, When Lightning Struck!: The Story of Martin Luther (Fortress Press, 2015), the unit study addresses the life and times of Martin Luther. Subjects covered by the unit study include: Martin Luther’s life, timeline dates, biographies of important people, relevant Scripture, history, science, art history, writing, copywork, vocabulary, and geography. You’ll find lots of weekly notebooking pages as well as weekly assignment schedules.

The free discussion guide for use with When Lightning Struck!: The Story of Martin Luther will help families and classes get all they can out of the book. The 34-page, full-color discussion guide is perfect for: youth groups, Sunday School classes, family read-alouds for grades 3 and up, and homeschool Christian history. You’ll find chapter-by-chapter discussion questions, historical artwork, biographies on important figures, and relevant Scripture passages to consider.

When Lightning Struck! The Story of Martin Luther is a narrative youth biography which tells Luther’s story from birth to death in an exciting manner. Young people will read about knights, castles, wars, a kidnapping, and more as they learn about history and theology. The book was written for young adults (middle and high school), and is also a great read-aloud for grades 3-5.

Download Atlas of the European Reformations Study Guide, a 52-page resource for grades 4-12, based on Tim Dowley’s excellent overview of the Protestant Reformation and the resulting Catholic Reformation. The Study Guide has discussion questions, vocabulary definitions kids can understand, literature suggestions by period and grade, and Scripture to consider.

Wonderfully Made: God’s Story of Life from Conception to Birth (Christian Focus, 2016) is the story of life in the womb for ages 5-11. Filled with science and Scripture, the book is the perfect way to help families explore fetal development together!
