Now, there are many shorter stories in the Bible, but to read Scripture rightly, we must read God’s Word in context. We understand that each smaller part is a part of a larger story of salvation God is telling us.
The fact that God’s Word is one, cohesive, true story is an absolute gift to us, as parents. You see, God created us to love story. Our kids understand Creation, the fall, the cycle of apostasy, God’s promise of a Messiah, the Cross, and the Church because they are built to recognize and relate to God’s ultimate story.
As parents, we do need to be wary of teaching God’s great plan for salvation–his story–wrongly. In fact, for a long time, the Christian Church did just that, focusing on individual stories in Scripture and pulling out morals to help our kids be “good.” That’s a mistake. Not one of us can be good outside salvation by grace through faith in Christ.
The Bible points to Jesus. It tells God’s great story of salvation. Any Bible curriculum your family uses must concentrate on the overarching themes of the Bible.
Bible Road Trip™ concentrates on the overarching themes in the Bible.
You want a Bible curriculum that is faithful to God’s holy, inspired, inerrant, infallible Word.
Bible Road Trip™ holds to the historic doctrine of Scripture, which comes from the inspired Word of God itself.
Along with age-appropriate books and videos to help your kids learn more about the Bible, your family will find daily schedules for Bible reading and discussion. The discussion questions focus on helping your kids identify and understand the grand, overarching themes of the Bible.
By the time your kids have completed three years of Bible Road Trip™, they’ll be able to explain:
- Who God is
- Who mankind is, and our need for salvation
- God’s great plan for salvation
- Jesus’ commands for his followers
It’s important that we teach our kids the Bible using the Bible. It’s important that we teach the Bible in context. And, it’s vital that we help our children learn to recognize and understand the overarching themes of Scripture as they read God’s great story to us.
