You see, I grew up in a Christian home. I even attended a Christian school through elementary. I went to church growing up, and I memorized verses each week at school. I even read individual books of the Bible on my own as teen.
But, I didn’t read the Bible cover-to-cover until I was saved as an adult. Then, I read it–the first time–in 88 days. And, God’s Word changed my life. After two decades in church, I finally understood God’s story of salvation.
Read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation
So, as my husband and I started homeschooling, I began a search for a curriculum that would take my kids through the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, in an age-appropriate way.
In looking for a homeschool Bible curriculum, I wanted:
- To use the Bible to study the Bible–not retold stories or topical lessons.
- To use the version of the Bible that we chose, based on research.
- To read wonderful books as a family, alongside our Bible study, to help our kids learn more about the Bible.
- An open-and-go daily Bible reading schedule, with prepared discussion questions.
- A study that was faithful to Scripture, that concentrates on the overarching themes in the Bible.
- Bible memory verses for my children to hide God’s Word in their hearts.
- Craft projects to help my kids learn more about their reading, and research projects to help my teens think critically about the world of the Bible.
- Ready-to-go notebooking journals to help my kids cement what they’d learned throughout the week.
- Prayer for the nations that would help my children learn empathy for others, and a little sneaky geography at the same time.
It was a tall order, and in the end I couldn’t find a Bible curriculum to take my children through the Bible cover-to-cover. But, I knew that reading God’s Word from Genesis to Revelation over and over was a life-changing activity for me. More than anything, I wanted that for my own kids.
So, I wrote the curriculum myself. I spent three years studying, writing, and editing Bible Road Trip™, a three year curriculum for preschool to high school.
Your family will journey through the Bible cover-to-cover.
It turns out, I’m not the only mom who wants her kids to journey all the way through God’s Word. It seems there are a lot of us. Tens and hundreds of thousands across the globe, in fact.
Bible Road Trip™ is a three-year Bible survey curriculum for families with kids preschool through high school. It’s a road trip comes with Bible reading, discussion, background exploration, crafts, notebooking, praying for the nations, memorization, and more.
Do you, also, want to read through the Bible cover-to-cover with your kids?
You can! In just three years, Bible Road Trip™ will take your family through Scripture from Genesis to Revelation.
The Bible Road Trip™ curriculum is just 32 weeks long, so you can take a break for summer, for weeks you’re extra busy, or for times when you’re not feeling well. Some families continue on without taking a break at all.
If you use the curriculum at a rate of one level per year, and if you start when your oldest is in preschool, your kids will go through the Bible five times before they leave home. That’s pretty exciting, right?
In the end, Bible Road Trip™ ended up being the perfect tool for our family. Our younger two boys went through the Bible four times before heading off to college. It’s been exciting to see God’s Word change their hearts and lives, and it’s been a joy to hear their stories about how they were able to answer questions their friends had about God’s Word.
I love what God tells us in Isaiah 55:10-11, ESV:
“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven
and do not return there but water the earth,
making it bring forth and sprout,
giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,
so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth;
it shall not return to me empty,
but it shall accomplish that which I purpose,
and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.”
Isn’t that a wonderful promise? God will send out his Word, and it will not return empty. Scripture will accomplish God’s purpose.
Our children need God’s Word. From Genesis to Revelation, the whole counsel of God is necessary for their spiritual health.
Bible Road Trip™ is a tool to help you teach the Bible to your kids, in an easily accessible layout, at levels that are age-appropriate for the whole family.
