When my kids were growing up, they always needed a bookmark. I found receipts, schoolwork, and photos shoved in their books. So, we started making fun bookmarks to mark their place.
With the arrival of my puzzle-based Bible study, Bible Investigators: Creation, I thought it would be fun to put together this space bookmark craft so your kids can always find their way right to the puzzle they’re working on. After all, at 272 pages, Bible Investigators: Creation is a big book!
Your kids will enjoy making their bookmarks–and they’ll love the reminder that our Lord is the King of the Universe!
In the Beginning, God Created the Heavens
Read Genesis 1:1 as a family before you begin your craft. In the ESV it says:
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
As you make your craft, discuss:
- Have you heard (or memorized!) Genesis 1:1 before?
- Have you ever stopped to think about what it means that God created the heavens?
- List some of the amazing things that exist in the sky, and in space.
God is the Creator of the Universe. He is also the King of the Universe. Everything that happens in space does so at his command!

Glue the small flame on top of the big flame. Glue the small window on top of the larger black circle.
Glue the red tip of the rocket to the top, then glue the rocket base to the flat end of the rocket.
Glue the red fins to the edges on the back of either side of the bottom of the rocket, as shown.
Glue the window to the middle of the rocket body, then glue the flames to the back side of the bottom of the rocket.
Use a permanent marker to outline the rocket, as shown.

Trace your constellation templates onto colored cardstock, as shown, then cut out the pieces. Glue your yellow stars onto the blue space piece in the shape of a constellation. Use a black permanent marker to trace the constellation outline.
